Early American Fraktur Table Square created from cotton/acrylic jacquard twill weave measures 33 x 33 in Black/Linen. Popular from mid 1700s to early 1900s and produced mainly in PA, MD, VA, WV, OH and the Carolinas, these family or religious manuscripts were ornately scribed family documents such as wedding or birth certificates in a certain Gothic style or "broken" text surrounded by brightly colored scenes especially natural elements - celestial, animals, nature. Later on, fraktur referred to the entire decorated document. Although this textile fraktur does not contain the "broken lettering" nature and celestial images in the same style of the hand painted images were chosen.
